Slovenia Day One at Vintgar Gorje

Well we arrived in Bled to the surreal surroundings of mountains bordering Austria on one side and Italy on the other side, it’s beautiful, green and lush! Our accommodation Jazz Hostel and Apartments are fab, we booked a dorm and arrived to be told we had been given a two bed apartment. Jani the owner is fabulous, so helpful and just so lovely, he even did our washing for us because the only laundry in Bled charges €15 for a small bag and he thinks it is too expensive.

The rain poured down for the whole of the day and evening, we have an apartment with washing hanging everywhere but there is nowhere more pleasant that this could be the case! Alan and I went for a wander in the rain by the lake and took in the breathtaking sight of Bled Castle, the cloud slowly lifting to reveal it’s full beauty.

So after a good nights sleep and a hearty b real fast we have set off today in the rain for our walk to Vintgar Gorje. The water is running furiously because of the rain, the water is so clear, the air so fresh. The walk here was through quiet winding countryside lined with wildflowers. The cloud was hanging low providing us with picturesque scenery for our wet 3km walk.

Our plans for the remainder of the day are obviously fluid, very literally actually, but we hope when we head back down to Bled to hire a rowing boat and head across to the Church of Ascension in the middle of lake Bled. Internet is a bit hit an miss so will blog more as and when.

About revthreads

I originally decided to get a blog because I think any adventure, travel experience should be journaled and then thought it's good to share. Some things may be interesting to others and other things not so much but sharing is good! I love to travel, I don't get to do as much as I would like, ultimately it would be my dream to just pack up, head off and keep going for as long as possible seeing and experiencing new things, meeting new and interesting people. Like a lot of people I have family and work commitments that keep me grounded, but I am fortunate enough to have a fair few opportunities to head out and live life to the full.
