Vintgar Gorje continued

We continued on the Vintgar Gorje walk, following the water! We thought it was running furiously at the beginning of the walk but once you get right into the Gorje it’s quite phenomenal. When we got to the end of the walk rather than turn around we decided we would take the short cut back to Bled through the trees and up the hills, what an adventure, although at one point it was looking like a scene from some horror movie, dark, wet and unused shacks along the way. We knew we were on the right track because of some old sign pointing us in the direction but we had absolutely know idea where we actually where. But we came out into a little village called Katriana, lovely little houses in tiny meandering streets.

We stopped at the local pub for some lunch where we met an intoxicated local who insisted on buying us all a schnapps, of course it would’ve been impolite to refuse so of course we obliged – pure fire water is all I can say it warmed us from the inside out!

We finally arrived home by about 5:30pm, quick freshen up and headed off for a rowing boat adventure but alas by the time we actually got there it was too late so it was back to the pub! We sat looking over the lake and Oasis, wondewall came on so of course we joined in which earned us another complimentary drink from the owner of the bar, this time blueberry schnapps much more pleasant on the palate, followed by another complimentary local fire water. So all in all a very pleasant day of fun and adventure in great surrounds!

About revthreads

I originally decided to get a blog because I think any adventure, travel experience should be journaled and then thought it's good to share. Some things may be interesting to others and other things not so much but sharing is good! I love to travel, I don't get to do as much as I would like, ultimately it would be my dream to just pack up, head off and keep going for as long as possible seeing and experiencing new things, meeting new and interesting people. Like a lot of people I have family and work commitments that keep me grounded, but I am fortunate enough to have a fair few opportunities to head out and live life to the full.
