Well day 2 and the sun was shining, we had breakfast and was ready to watch the the first race the 600cc race. Unfortunately there was an accident and another death so the race was delayed but after a few hours we were out in the front yard watching as the bikes began flying past blur after blur, lots of photos of walls and trees were taken as we attempted to capture the moments of the bikes passing by. These riders are amazing, the adrenalin must be amazing, the skill and nerves to be applauded! Bruce Anstey taking the first place and poor Guy Martin retiring because of a technical problem with his bike.
For the afternoon it was off to the grandstand for a wander around, watch the end of the side car practice, have a bite to eat before the 1000 cc bikes began their race. While wandering we had a chat with a bike and side car couple who were explaining what it was like to ride the course, I got to sit on the bike which has you almost laying down, quite mad really.
Then it was off to the fence to watch the race, again it was blur after blur just from a different angle but it really is a bit of a buzz! McGuiness took first place and then it was time to head home for dinner and a nice glass or few of red wine.
Julie and Pete had some guys from Hull staying with them too, really good bunch, we had a few drinks and a laugh, but the biggest laugh came this morning! Three guys were up in the loft conversion, on the side wall there are some curtains covering some storage, one of the guys didn’t realize that this was the case and thought that it may be a wall or at least something solid behind the curtains and as he began to fall grabbing the folding camp bed he ended up on the other side of the curtains on top of the gym equipment and yes you got it being a folding camp bed it actually went with him – maybe you had to be here to find it quite as amusing as we did but I did say that it was a bloggable event 🙂
The weather today is cold and wet so after a couple of beers at the pub and saying good bye to the guys from Hull it was back to Julie’s and Pete’s for an afternoon in front of the fire and watching a movie, curry tonight for tea and tomorrow we get in another race, maybe two before it all ends in tears and we say good bye to yet more very important friends for probably another few years!
