Happy Anniversary…

Yesterday was our 30th wedding anniversary and we woke to the sounds of our grandies and like each morning so far it began with the trip to the dinning room for breakfast in a bid to provide our bodies with the sustenance needed to get through the day.

First task of the day, Revthreads v daughters on the stand up paddle board, the feat was to paddle out and around the inflatable slide and back to the beach. Mollie took off before we officially started giving herself a head start, Abbie was next to me we were all travelling well, then it was time to stand up, I was first, Mollie made lots of noise but mission accomplished, Abbie too was making lots of noise at which point I couldn’t look back, because laughing and turning around to look whilst balancing on a paddle board is not for the novice, but mission was accomplished. It was a good giggle and so good to be able to get out on the ocean with the girls. Alas no one fell in until the end, so no paddle board bloomers for Facebook!

I then ventured back out and about with Ryder sat carefully on the front of the board, it obviously wasn’t adventurous enough as he kept calling out “quicker Ji!” I could hear the commotion behind me as Jordan and Mollie tried to double up on the paddle board, I think she ended up in the ocean a couple of times before giving up to wait for me and Ryder to get back. It wasn’t long before a kayak came up alongside and past me, Phoebe calling out “Ji” yep Abbie, Matt and Phoebe decided a family kayak jaunt was called for. When I arrived back at the beach Mollie waited, Ryder hopped off and it appeared an ulterior motive was brewing, I was coming off the board regardless, they worked well as a team as I hit the ocean.

For our next trick, it was a Revthreads takeover of the inflatable slide in the ocean. Quite an easy feat as 9 of us aged 1 a 50 landed, seriously no-one else had a chance! That said, climbing on an inflatable in the middle of the ocean is a little bit tricky, but we did it, the adults of course very responsible with the children!

4pm soon came around and then it was time for Mr Revthreads and myself to be whisked off to a private beach for a picnic that our beautiful children had organised. We hopped in the boat and travelled not to far but far enough away, not another person in sight, where we shared food and wine, looking out over the glistening ocean. We both pondered for a while, how had 30 years passed? How had our two daughters grown up so quickly? It really was a great time of reflection, we sat back and watched as the ocean lapped the beach and the sun kissed the ocean. Just a little way up the beach black shimmering rocks lay on the beach and as the waves hit the mist rose up into the air, it really was a little piece of paradise and perfection.we watched as crabs scurried along the waters edge, most of the time able to resist the ebb and flow of the ocean, other times being gently pulled back along their paths. It had to be the best anniversary gift ever and we didn’t want it to end, we decided to walk along the beach to the rocks for a compulsory “isn’t this amazing” photo shoot. We wandered back and before long  we heard the boat in the distance and we knew our time was coming to an end.

As we climbed on the boat we looked back to notice that our footprints along the beach had now gone, the ocean had washed away all trace of our walk, just like that, as if we had never stepped foot on the island. We arrived back to be greeted by the children and grandies all wanting to hear about our experience and see any photos we had taken.

Fiji time may sound as though it’s about waiting, but it seems to pass terribly quickly and before we knew it we were getting ready for dinner. We were going to walk to the sunset lookout to share new vows with each other but time was getting away from us, so that would wait, for now it was dinner time. We sat and shared our dinner together, the grandies settled to watch a little bit of TV. Towards the end of dinner a bottle of champagne  was cracked open to share, and then, the staff came out singing to us, it was quite beautiful. Mr Revthreads and myself got up for a dance, it was romantic and wonderful to share with our children, alas we didn’t want to disappoint them by being completely romantic, as we realised the song was coming to an end, we rand hand in hand into the pool, a perfect conclusion to a perfect day.

Yep,  then it was simply bedtime, to rest before another day in paradise.

About revthreads

I originally decided to get a blog because I think any adventure, travel experience should be journaled and then thought it's good to share. Some things may be interesting to others and other things not so much but sharing is good! I love to travel, I don't get to do as much as I would like, ultimately it would be my dream to just pack up, head off and keep going for as long as possible seeing and experiencing new things, meeting new and interesting people. Like a lot of people I have family and work commitments that keep me grounded, but I am fortunate enough to have a fair few opportunities to head out and live life to the full.
